NESCOE Issues Final Work Plan to Implement
Coordinated Competitive Renewable Power Procurement
November 21, 2012 – The New England States Committee on Electricity (NESCOE) today issued a final Work Plan in connection with Coordinated Competitive Renewable Power Procurement (Coordinated Procurement).
The Work Plan is in furtherance of the New England Governors’ July 2012 Resolution directing NESCOE to implement such a Work Plan, and identifying a goal of issuing a solicitation by December 2013. The Resolution noted New England’s “vast potential for cost-effective renewable resources, particularly wind power, and a proven ability to site and develop transmission projects within the region.”
NESCOE issued a draft Work Plan in August 2012 and welcomed comment on it. NESCOE received comments from approximately twenty persons and entities and considered them in finalizing the Work Plan.
The final Work Plan and future solicitation-related documents that will be released for comment over time will be available at www.nescoe.com under “2013 Solicitation”.
NESCOE’s Jason Marshall will coordinate the Coordinated Procurement Legal Subteam and Jeff Bentz will coordinate the Procurement Team. Both teams will include personnel from each New England State. The Procurement Team may also include members from some Electric Distribution Companies as determined appropriate by each state.
